Welcome to Nutrihub_ng; Introductory Post
According to the 3rd Sustainable Development Goal which is to ensure healthy life and promote well-being for all ages, we're playing our part to see to the fulfillment of this goal by disseminating nutritional information required for you all to promote your well-being.
We have also been through the stage of following false nutritional informations, beliefs and various myths about the food we eat and trust me it's something that harms our body and also hinders it from growing properly.
This pain of seeing and feeling these problems made us to come up with a better solution (NutriHub_ng). Along the line we noticed a need for giving more extensive and detailed nutritional informations which is why we created a blog which is centered on enlightening people about healthy diets, certain misconceptions about certain foods as well as the various ways we can promote our well being.
I'll like to share an experience of mine with you, my grandmother was taken to the hospital when she started complaining about her eyes. She said she doesn't seem to see clearly again and after check up at an eye clinic, she was diagnosed to have Cataracts in her eye and was told by the doctor that conducting an eye surgery on her would help clear remove the cataracts which her sons and daughters didn't agree to because they felt she's old and they are scared of their mother going blind permanently in case of an unsuccessful operation. So her children decided that she should manage her eye defects which she also agreed to. About a month after the diagnosis, during one of her routine visits for check up at the hospital she met a patient, a woman who advised her to start eating a whole bulb of raw onion which I guess she thought as a good nutritional advice. Luckily for her I gave her a call that same week and she asked about her health in general, after about 5minutes of chit-chat, she asked about my project in school which I guess made her remember I am a nutrition student. She then told asked what do I think about the idea of her eating a bulb of raw onion everyday. I asked her why she wanted to do that and she explained the whole story to me and I had to explain to her why that is a bad idea. First, onion isn't even a good source of vitamin A which is good for our eye health but then she wasn't too convinced which led me to further explanation on why the woman she met at the hospital actually gave her that advice after which she totally understood that the advice she got isn't a good one for her in particular.
Don't worry we'd talk on the various misconceptions people have on various foods and also if you have one that you want to know you can do well to send us an email and we'd make sure we touch that as well.
Why was she lucky I called her?
Why was onion recommended as a treatment for her eye?
What could have happened if she had followed through with the eating of raw onions everyday?

These questions and more would be answered in our upcoming blog. I'm sure you won't want to miss out on them, so watch out every week for our amazing contents.
