Have you heard about Israel's Iron Dome?
It is considered as one of the most advanced missile defense systems in the world today. The human immune system is also considered as the body's best defense system.
How is this iron Dome related to the human immune system?
Yes, it is.
Confused right? Don't be
What makes them related is their mode of operation.
For the iron Dome, the system uses radar to track incoming rockets before launching two interceptor missiles to destroy them before they can cause any damage (s) to the target area.
While the immune system as well tracks incoming parasite (s) and launches antibodies to destroy them before they can cause any damage(s) to the target organ.
What made the country, Israel create a defense system like that of the Iron Dome?
The Iron Dome missile defense system has its origins in Israel’s 2006 war with the militant Hezbollah movement in Lebanon. Thousands of rockets were fired at Israel by Hezbollah, causing massive damage and killing dozens of Israelis.
Israel announced the development of a new missile defense shield a year later. It took years to develop the system, which went live in early 2011.
As the iron Dome requires as many interceptor missiles for defense, the immune system also requires as many strong antibodies as possible to be able to defend the body against incoming parasites at any given time.
A question you should ask yourself is, should I wait till my body system gets attacked before I build (increase) more antibodies inside of me? I'm sure your answer is a CAPITAL NO.
So how can you increase the number and strength of the human antibodies?
The simple answer is maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
You must be wondering if maintaining a healthy lifestyle depicts our physical hygiene alone, well that's not entirely what it means.
Here are a few ways you can adapt to help maintain a healthy lifestyle;
1. Successful adjustment to changing stresses on the body.
According to Harry J. Johnson
"The human body has been designed to resist an infinite number of changes and attacks brought about by its environment. The secret of good health lies in successful adjustment to changing stresses on the body.”
Stress puts the body in a fight or flight mode which makes your body more prone to health problems. So whenever you feel stressed, you should find your way to reduce or destress the body. Your way of destressing the body can be engaging in exercises, mediation, taking a nap, spending time with nature, eating a treat or it can even be talking to friends, yours can also be combining any of the two, what's of utmost importance is that you successfully adjust your body to the changing stress.
2. Stay Hydrated.
The human body they say is made up of roughly 60% of water. Water is essential for numerous activities in the human body which include:
¶ Temperature Regulation
¶ Waste Removal {urinating, sweating, etc}
¶ Lubrication of the joints
¶ Dissolves Nutrients and Minerals
¶ Aids Digestion
¶ Increase Bowel Health
¶ Promote Collagen Production, etc.
In a state of dehydration, the body begins to face some mild complications which in some cases leads to severe complications. The benefits of a well-hydrated body cannot be overemphasized.
The water they say is life, thousands have lived without love, but not one without water.
How Much Water Should You Drink Per Day?
We have various articles that say you should take about 3-4litres of water per day while some recommend less and others more. I won't necessarily give a specific amount of water you should take in per day but I'd leave you with this small piece of advice "Always listen to Your Body, so you should drink water whenever you feel thirst as well as after every meal".
Why should I wait to feel thirst before I drink water?
Too much of anything isn't good, so to avoid taking in too much water than the one needed for individual body functions, you should drink water when you feel thirst.
Do I have to drink water every time I feel thirst?
Yes, you should. If you know that you don't have easy access to water in your place of work, you should get yourself a water bottle.
